If you are looking for someone to help your business increase sales and revenue by applying “salesmanship in print” to do a better job of conveying the benefits of your products and services, then you are in the right place. I am a freelance copywriter and marketing consultant, but I prefer to think of myself as a saleswriter.  Saleswriting is the kind of copywriting that has a positive impact on your bottom line. Copywriting services should never be considered a cost. It is an investment in your company intended to generate revenue, and is therefore one of the most solid investments you can make in the future of your business.

Most businesses (large and small) evolve slowly over time, and put out marketing materials without much forethought and without a comprehensive strategy, because of an immediate pressing need.  These materials meet the immediate short-term need, but don’t do a good enough job really selling your offerings.  You re not alone in this, and there is a solution:  By making an investment in improving your sales materials so that they speak in a personal and direct way to your target audience, you can dramatically increase your sales, quickly.

Consider this: most sales and marketing processes have multiple steps – from lead generation, to selling, to closing a sale, then following up for repeat business or to sell additional products and services.  And in this process, your prospects and customers see numerous marketing messages from you.  Does each and every one of these marketing messages instill confidence, solidify your relationship with the reader, and powerfully move them closer to doing business with you?  If not, you need my saleswriting skills.

Now imagine that each and every one of your markting pieces has their message clarified, refined, and now convey in a genuine, thorough, and impactful manner, speaking directly to the though processes already taking place inside the minds of these prospects and customers.  Your sales would increase dramatically.  And in a multi-step sales process, a slight improvement in “conversion rate” of each step results in an exponential increase in sales.  That’s what I want to create for you – an exponential increase in sales.  That is what saleswriting is all about.

I invite you to contact me immediately for a no cost needs assessment, and to see if we are a match.  If I can help you, I will put together a proposal that works within your budget.  In some cases a portion of your investment can come from the increase in future sales, so let’s talk about that option if that feels right for you.  If we are not a match or I cannot help you best, I will not try to sell you services that you simply do not need.

Let’s get started increasing your bottom line… I can be reached by calling 800-619-9080, and I look forward to your call.

Sincerely,

Ryan A Harris

1.    First I establish that you have at least a basic workable marketing strategy and I ask questions of you until I develop an understanding of how this specific piece fits into that strategy. Any marketing piece that is not part of a larger strategy is probably not going to accomplishyour goals, no matter how well the piece is written.

2.    Frequently this marketing strategy does not yet exist, at which point I strongly encourage the client to consider investing in a few hours consulting services first, so we can get together to map out a strong strategy to accomplish their business goals.

3.    Once the marketing strategy is developed, and you agree to it, and the first half of the copywriting fees are submitted, my next goal is to develop a solid understanding of both the product or service and the target audience.  This may involve reading all of the existing marketing of the organization (trade journals, case studies, Internet research, etc.).  A strong copywriting piece cannot be written without a strong grasp of the problems, concerns, and issues faced by the prospective buyers and an understanding of exactly how the product or service will solve that problem.

4.    Once the target audience is fully understood, I identify two or three psychological triggers that can, and should, be “pulled” with the prospective buyers as they read the piece.  I then gain your agreement before beginning writing.  On smaller projects this is usually discussed  early in our dialogue. I want you as the client to understand why I am taking the approach that I believe should be taken.  This avoids misunderstandings down the line and in my experience works pretty well for all parties.

5.    If the piece involves graphical elements (typically for websites or catalogs), I create a mockup of the site in MS Word so you can get a feel for the overall layout.  This is then handed off to a professional proofreader, after which (if needed) it is handed off to a graphic designer or webmaster to create the final piece.  The second half of payment is due at this point.

6.    If revisions are requested by the client, those are performed as necessary to ensure the client’s complete satisfaction.  I usually request that clients use the “track changes” feature found in Word to provide me with detailed feedback.

7.    Depending on how the piece is used, there may be ongoing improvements being performed for split testing purposes, so you are continually offering stronger marketing pieces to the prospective buyers. These revisions will be provided on an agreed-upon schedule created during the initial marketing strategy development.

8.    It is recommended that once a printed proof is obtained, or the development work is done, thatyou send a copy to me, so I can ensure that all of the right elements are in place and the piece has the overall look and feel that I had originally envisioned.  If part of a larger package, I may make suggestions for improving the overall package and increasing “open” or response rates.

9.    I follow up with you after enough time has elapsed for you to know the overall response rate or success of the piece and discuss ways to increase the response if necessary.  In some cases, this is done at no cost to you, or this may become the starting point for a new project.
